Hi!

Not all days go as you and I may have hoped.

Some days we stumble or fall. Maybe in a small way, maybe in a bigger way.

But what do you do then?

Let me tell you what I used to do.

I used to beat myself up for a day or a week or so.

Partly because that seemed like that natural thing to do. No matter if the mistake
was quite small. Partly because I thought it would help me to move forward and
improve. And partly, simply because of low self-esteem.

It wasn't a very healthy but an extremely common way to handle mistakes,
failures or stumbles.

This habit can be hard to stop using because it can indeed help you to improve. And if you don't know what more positive alternatives you can replace it with
then you may get stuck.

So what can you replace that habit with?

1. Remember: If you want to do something of value in life then you will
stumble.

If you want to go outside of your comfort zone, if you want to do things that really
matter then you will stumble.

You will fail or make mistakes from time to time.

It has happened to everyone over the past thousands of years that wanted to do
something of value.

So it is normal. And it is OK. Even though some people may try to convince you
otherwise.

2. Tap into optimism and the upside of the situation.

Take a couple of deep breaths to calm and clear your mind. And then tap into
optimism and being constructive.

Ask yourself: what is one opportunity or lesson in this situation?

My experience has been that there is almost always something that is helpful or
good - in the long run - to find in any situation.

3. Look for one small step forward.

Now, with your lesson in mind move forward.

Ask yourself: What is one small step I can take right now to start solving or
moving away from this situation and towards something better?

Then take that step forward. And then the next one.

Have a self-kind Sunday and week ahead!

Henrik
